Apprentices and trainees

Thales in Australia has a strong tradition of offering career opportunities to school leavers, adult apprentices, and individuals who have already completed an apprenticeship or traineeship in a different field. You will have the chance to work on exciting projects such as ship repairs, electronics and mechanical equipment maintenance and more across a variety of systems, communications, radar, and surveillance.

Apprenticeship program

As an apprentice at Thales, you will experience the best of both worlds. You will complete a program that combines on-the-job training with study at TAFE (Technical and Further Education). Typically, you will spend four days a week on site gaining practical experience and one day a week at TAFE working towards your Certificate IV (or higher) as you build your portfolio.

While apprentices are usually hired on a fixed-term contract, there may be an opportunity to transition into a permanent role at Thales in your chosen trade, provided you achieve your qualification and demonstrate strong performance on the job.

Traineeship program

As a trainee at Thales, you will work towards completing an Advanced Diploma while gaining valuable on-the-job experience.

Our trainees often build smarter solutions across electronic/mechanical equipment repair and maintenance, engineering upgrades and design, as well as support capabilities.
