Diversity & Inclusion

We strongly believe the best way we can serve our people and our customers is to ensure that we continuously work to build an environment in which all our employees feel respected for who they are and for the value that their individuality brings to the organisation. We are striving to create a workplace in which you can truly be you, with us. Explore local diversity and inclusion efforts at Thales in the UK, where equal opportunities and respect for individuals drive creativity and innovation.

Be You, with us

Our employee groups come together to collaborate, challenge assumptions, and share valuable insights. Members from each network, alongside HR and guest speakers, meet quarterly to exchange ideas and set priorities that enhance the employee experience. Together, we are committed to creating a thriving workplace for everyone we represent.

Gender Imbalance

Delivering cutting-edge innovation requires a huge diversity of thought, skills and experiences and this is reflected in our need for a truly diverse workforce. We are actively addressing the gender imbalance within our industries in the UK. Together with our partner organisations, we help promote science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) careers amongst young people through a wide range of activities, events and open days, ensuring that engineering is an attainable career path regardless of gender.  Having an extensive female workforce is key to diversity and inclusion and increasing the number of women in Thales and the engineering sector is a business priority.

"There are mentoring opportunities for women in Thales, as we have partnered with Code First Girls, which has helped bring more women into the company. I’m in the LGBTQIA+ network as well – there is a lot of support on offer at Thales, and many people may find that they can get involved in more than one network.”

“As a Thales REACH representative, I found the experience invaluable. It allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the Royal Navy’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. I was inspired by their dedication to not only promote opportunities within the Navy, but also to break down barriers for people of all backgrounds.”

In 2025, Thales in the UK regained its accreditation as a ‘Disability Confident Leader,’ the highest level in the government-led scheme we joined in 2021, which helps businesses employ and retain individuals with disabilities or long-term health conditions. This voluntary program emphasizes the importance of harnessing the valuable talents and skills that disabled individuals bring to the workplace.

As a member of the Business Disability Forum, we are dedicated to becoming a disability-smart organisation, focusing on key themes such as effective recruitment and employee development. Our commitment is reflected in our demonstrated improvements in recruiting, retaining, and developing disabled employees.

“As a Disability Confident Leader, we remain committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. Achieving the highest level of accreditation is an important milestone, but our work doesn’t stop here. We will continue to challenge barriers, improve accessibility, and create opportunities that empower our people. By championing disability inclusion, we’re creating a workplace environment where everyone can reach their full potential.”
